Kreative Kids first Open Kreate is happening today. Children have the opportunity to experience many different art mediums(acrylic paint, pastels, model magic, watercolors) in our studio and spend 2 hours painting or sculpting to their hearts content.
Our new session of drama classes have just started. We want to congratulate Emily Conway on her performance in Mulan. Emily is a student here at Kreative Kids and we are very proud of her and all her accomplishments. Ms. Marion Sanders is our distinguished Drama Teacher. We are focusing on acting concepts this session but Ms. Marion is making sure that lots of fun goes along with learning.
Hello everyone, just a little information about Kreative Kids. We are NOT a franchise. Our ideas and concepts are completely our own. Opening our business is a dream come true for both Suzie and I.(Margie) Please check out www.startupnation.com and vote for us for Business of the Year run by moms. As you may or may not know Suzie is the proud mother of triplets born 11 months ago. I have 4 children of my own. We take great pride in bringing quality music, art, drama instruction to your children. We are passionate about our teaching and passionate about children. We LOVE creating art and music and hope when you take a class at Kreative Kids you will LOVE it too.
Private piano, voice, and guitar lessons provide an opportunity for children to work one on one with me (Ms. Margie) I am constantly amazed with the students I am working with as to their commitment to working hard and for their desire to want to explore and learn the music of the Masters. Bach, Beethoven and Mozart are just a few of the Great Composers our students are working on. I also encourage my students to pick currrent artists they might be interested in learning about but it is a testament to the fact that great music never goes out of style that these young people can recognize Great Music when they hear it and are drawn to want to play it or sing it.
In Kreative Kids drama class we are not only working on dialogue related to the works of Shakespeare but also on expressing oursleves through music. This session of drama lessons has expanded to include musical theater in addition to acting skills. Warmups, reciting lines, singing are all a part of the hour long acting class. This session will end in a presentation at the Montgomery United Methodist Church on March 27th at 4pm. in Belle Mead, NJ. Everyone is welcome, this event is free. Come and see what these Kreative Kids have accomplished in such a short time.
In our 8 week session combo music and art class the children experienced various artistic medias. Watercolors , pastels, modeling clay were just a few that the preschoolers worked with. Making pinch pots(they liked to call them "snake pots" , coloring Mondrians various vertical shapes, were just a few examples of the art "lesson" presented. In the music portion of the class the children sang and danced and played a variety of percussion instruments, even playing a small keyboard, all to give them a well rounded musical adventure. "Put Your Happy Face On" is one of my favorite songs to sing with the children while we all shake maracas. At Kreative Kids I think our Combo Class is one of the best art and music classes to introduce to a preschooler because it combines the best of the arts in a small nurturing environment and allow the children to be expressive and creative in their own way.
Students in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade enrolled in our Petite Picassos class at Kreative Kids worked with acrylic and 3-D paint to decorate and add details to the clay fish they made last week. Students did a great job using diffent colors for the bodies, heads, mouths, and fins of their fish. Using the 3-D paint allowed them to highlight some of the textures that they made in the wet clay.
While the clay fish were drying students drew fish bowls. We had a discussion about what types of things we can find in fish bowls. They decided we might see mermaids, fish, crabs, hermit crabs, snorkelers, scuba divers, sharks, filters, and so much more. I was amazed by all of the things they came up with- kids are so creative at this age.
As a class we drew the shape of the fishbowl, the rock lining on the bottom of the bowl, and water line at the top of the bowl. After this step-by-step demonstration the students drew what ever type of sealife they wanted to include in their bowls. After drawing the bowls we used permanent marker to go over our pencil lines so that they did not smudge when we watercolored our pictures. The results of both the clay fish and fish bowl painting are beautiful and can be seen on our facebook fan page at w
This week students in our Middle School Monets art class have been hard at work on observational drawings. Each student chose an image of a bird to use as a reference for their drawing. The goals of this project are to learn how to create a contour line drawing of a bird and how to use shading to add dimension and details to the bird's plumage.
To start the class I had students draw a bird from their imagination. At the end of class we compared these imaginary birds with the birds that we are drawing from observation. Students were able to notice a big difference in the drawings they did from their imagination and the drawings they did from observation. They found that the image drawn from their head was lacking alot of details, such as feathers and shading, causing it to look more cartoon-like and less realistic.
We discussed different styles of shading such as hatching, cross-hatching, side of pencil and tip of pencil shading, and stumping. Students found that hatching and cross-hatching were not really good methods for shading birds. It seemed the detail of the birds feathers were better rendered with side and tip of pencil methods combined with stumping.
It was wonderful to watch how focused students were while drawing and shading their birds. They were intent on including all details to make their birds look as realistic as they couI have posted some images of their drawings (in progress) on our facebook fanpage at http://www.facebook.com/kreativekids
At Kreative Kids our aim is to provide the highest level of instruction to meet your childs needs. We understand that not every child learns the same way so our art, music, and drama lessons cater to each individual learning style. Going into this month I would just like to welcome all of our new students and to let them know that it is a pleasure to be teaching you. Every new concept that is learned makes me proud of you. And to my students who have been here a while continue the good work that you do. You all inspire me to do and to be the best that I can be. Ms. Margie
